Singing River

Singing River is inspired by the Wonscotonach/Don River’s physical and historical journey from abundance and freedom, to constraint and contamination, and back again. We see this work as having a vital role in shifting the public’s perception of the river: from a toxic waterway of unpredictable and destructive floods, to a living entity returning to life and abundance.

Urbanvessel artists draw upon water ceremonies, stories and songs from First Nations and settler cultures, intermingling movement, image and sound to reconnect us to the river.

Singing River
culminates in a series of performances and installations July 4-5, 2015, launching Pan Am Path. In collaboration with Native Earth, Regent Park School of Music, Aanmitaagzi, and Evergreen Brickworks.
